The Kristberg is located in the middle of the Austrian Alps and serves as an adventurous hiking and recreation area during the summer. Located in the south of Vorarlberg you can expect wonderful views over the three majestic mountain groups here: the Rätikon chalk rocks, the crystalline Central Alps rocks of the partly glaciated Silvretta group and the Verwall mountain range.
A paradise for mountaineers
Themed hikes, family hikes, hut tours, climbing – the wide range of activities in the Montafon in Vorarlberg seems to be unlimited for all hikers who enjoy a wonderful natural environment and fresh alpine air during their holiday.
Around 20 great and perfectly sign-posted hiking trails can be found around your Montafon hotel on the Kristberg. They lead through lush meadows, shady forests, past alpine farms and rustic huts, at high altitudes and over crests all the way up to Vorarlberg's summit crosses.
The 3 trained hiking guides (Karin, Adolf & Jürgen Zudrell) will be happy to advise you about the many hiking possibilities on the Kristberg and in the Montafon.
Kristberg panorama-circular-walk
A comfortable leisure hike on the Alps, a longer hike from hut to hut or advanced and more challenging climbing tours on the Montafon rock faces – during a hiking holiday at the Kristberg Panoramagasthof the Vorarlberg mountain world is at your feet.
Indulgence hikers love the Kristberg panorama-circular-walk. The moderate walk takes about 2 hours. In includes views over the gorgeous mountain tops and leads you past Montafon's oldest church, the St. Agatha chapel, as well as over the Kristbergsattel, the Ganzaleita, some “Maisäß” houses and up to the fabulous viewing platforms.
The circular walk can also be extended to a bigger tour that can then take up to 5 hours.
Start at the Kristberg cable car mountain station and be spoilt for choice. You will find all sorts of westbound and eastbound hiking trails. But don't worry: All of them are breathtakingly beautiful. Just walk where your legs take you.
Guided hikes by the Montafon mountain guides
Everyday the Montafon mountain guides will take you on free guided hikes. The quality and the adventure effect are often enhanced when going on a hike with an experienced guide, as the certified mountain and hiking guides have a great knowledge (local history, culture, geology, legends, …) and all of the tours have a particular theme. The indulgence team at the Kristberg Hotel will gladly provide you with information on further (charged) guided hikes.
